All K-16 second language educators, students, administrators, and friends of the profession are invited to attend a joint conference that will emphasize the significance of learning and improving second language instruction at the elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels.
Concurrent sessions will offer professional development topics that affect the teaching and learning of second languages.
Certificates will be available for verification of professional re-certification hours.
The keynote workshop, “Peeling the Onion: Discovering the Layers of Culture,” will be presented twice on Friday by Peggy Boyles.
Persons with a disability may request a reasonable accommodation, such as a sign language interpreter. Requests should be made early in order to allow time to make arrangements .

Workshop Speaker: Dr. Eileen Glisan
Dr. Glisan's articles have appeared in the most prestigious national and international journals, and her textbook, Teacher's Handbook: Contextualized Language Instruction , now in its third edition, is used in methods courses in virtually all undergraduate foreign language programs in the United States .
Dr. Glisan is a key player in the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language's "New Visions" program to create a national agenda for foreign language education. She also serves on national panels that design on-line teaching methods, new assessment tools, and NCATE-approved standards for teacher education programs in the foreign languages.
Seating is limited, includes lunch.
